Seven Pounds

In preparation for this Sunday's, God at the Movies, sermon I watch Seven Pounds. I thought it was a great movie. There are so many connection points in this story. I'd love to hear from you. What did you think of the movie? What kind of connection points did you see where you could talk with someone about who God is and what he's like, or where you could illustrate some spiritual truth? I might use your comments on Sunday, so comment away!

Honestly, I thought the movie was depressing.
There are elements of sacrifice in the movie, but they weren't motivated by the same level of love and compassion that we might see in the Gospel story.

Will Smith's character was trying to make amends for his past actions by doing good. We often do that... try to work our way into God's favor. The only conclusion he could come up with was to give his life to save others.

I think the worst part was that he didn't feel like his LIFE had any value... that the only thing he was worth was in his death. The absence of God in this movie was oppressive... I think most of our lives would look about like that if we took God out of the equation and relied on ourselves... which is really scary because so many people are without God or are choosing to ignore Him.
